Publish@UGA

Publish@UGA is an interdisciplinary initiative that prepares students for careers in both trade and academic publishing, and beyond, by connecting classroom learning with professional practice. Housed in the Department of English, the program brings together The Georgia Review, the University of Georgia Press, and the Lamar Dodd School of Art to offer students hands-on experience, mentorship, and industry engagement. Through its undergraduate certificate, graduate internships, and faculty programming, Publish@UGA fosters a vibrant campus publishing community. The program also strengthens ties with leading editors, literary agents, and publishers, creating opportunities for workshops, manuscript consultations, and professional networking.

Publishing Certificate

The undergraduate certificate in Publishing is a preprofessional certificate that provides students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to pursue a career in editing and publishing. Through courses, practicums, and experiential learning programs, the certificate is designed to provide an intellectual and practical introduction to literary publishing, past, present, and future, preparing students for employment not only in the publishing industry, but also in a wide range of related fields.
The certificate program is a collaboration between the Department of English, the Lamar Dodd School of Art, The Georgia Review, and the University of Georgia Press. For more information, please contact the program coordinator, Christine Lasek-White (cmlwhite@uga.edu).

Graduate Internship at The Georgia Review

UGA’s literary journal, The Georgia Review, offers a two-year internship for which our graduate students compete annually.

Los Angeles Review of Books Publishing Workshop

The English Department is an official institutional partner with the LARB Publishing Workshop, which is an intensive professional development online summer course that trains students from diverse backgrounds in all aspects of book, magazine, and new media publishing in preparation for applying for jobs or internships in the industry or for launching their own small magazine, press, or literary non-profit. Graduate students from our program are eligible to apply to this program during the spring semester. If they are selected for participation by LARB, the department pays for their tuition. You can find out more about our program at their website: https://larbpublishingworkshop.org/.
