I teach courses in performance history and theory, especially having to do with Shakespeare.  A strong secondary research area is women writers before 1700.  My most recent books are Shakespeare and the American Popular Stage (Cambridge 2006) and with Margaret Ezell, Educating English Daughters (U Toronto, 2017). Many of my courses are cross-listed as being in both the English department and the Department of Theatre and Film Studies.
