Matthew is a first-year Master's student whose research interests in literature vary widely, ranging from science fiction and fantasy to video games and visual culture to gender studies and queer studies, though underlying his work in these fields is a general fascination with ethics, the uncanny, and the monstrous. He also researches haiku poetics and their transcontinental influences throughout the early twentieth century, and his own English-language haiku have appeared in Frogpond, Modern Haiku, and A Hundred Gourds.
