This past year, Write@UGA continued to support writing and writing pedagogy across campus through a series of exciting events and initiatives. In early February, Write@UGA welcomed Princeton University Press Director Christie Henry to UGA for a series of talks and workshops on academic writing for public audiences. Henry helped UGA faculty and students explore the ecosystem of ideas, the role writing plays in that ecosystem, and in an increasingly digital landscape, and authors as charismatic species. Her presentations were sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning, the Department of English, Franklin College of Arts and Sciences, Faculty Affairs, UGA Press, the Office of the Vice President for Instruction, and the Office of the Vice President for Research. The Writing Intensive Program, the Writing Certificate Program, and the CTL's Writing Fellows Program served as administrative sponsors. Also in February, Lindsey Harding offered a boot camp for faculty and graduate students across the disciplines interested in designing writing-intensive courses. New this year, Write@UGA teamed up with the Office of Faculty Affairs to run a faculty writing productivity program each semester. In early May 2018, Write@UGA will offer its second annual writing retreat for UGA faculty. As part of the effort to showcase writing at UGA, students from Elizabeth Davis’s Spring 2018 Writing for the Web class wrote blog posts featuring writing courses, programs, resources, and opportunities for a Write@UGA “Blog Carnival” at the write.uga.edu website.
