Instructor of Record, First-Year Writing

Spencer Doss is an MA student in UGA's English Department. She received her BA in English from Willamette University in the spring of 2020, graduating cum laude with department honors. Her senior thesis, “(In)Authentic Conversation: Jane Austen and Fulfillment in the Sphere of the tête-a-tête,” was seminal in shaping her academic focus on women's literature and feminist criticism. Spencer's scholarly interests include British literature of the long nineteenth century, with a particular emphasis on female authorship and representation of women in the novel. Her current research focuses on the intersections of art and medicine in New Woman literature from the fin-de-siècle. She is also an instructor of record for UGA's First-Year Writing program.
