Michelle-Taylor Sherwin

PhD Candidate and FYW Instructor

Michelle-Taylor Sherwin is a doctoral candidate and FYW instructor. Her research focuses on women's writing, motherhood, and mentorship in nineteenth and twentieth-century American literature. She has received a Graduate Certificate in Women's Studies, where her research extends to the intersections of race and gender portrayed in popular culture, specifically reality television.   

Michelle's article, The Evolution of Foucault’s Utopic Panopticon: Technology and the Creation of a Dystopia in Big Brother," was published by the South Atlantic Review. She also has a forthcoming chapter in the book, Through Mama's Eyes: Unique Perspectives on Southern Matriarchy, titled, "Mary Chesnut's Civil War Diary and the Evolution of the Southern Woman."
