Katy is a Georgia native, and received her B.A. in English from Furman University in 2013. While there, she worked as editor-in-chief for the school literary magazine, The Echo, as well as copyeditor for the newspaper, The Paladin.

Katy serves as the treasurer for LSUGA, and is also on the committee for the 4th annual interdisciplinary Linguistics Conference at UGA. She teaches ENGL 1101, First Year Composition, with the English Department. Her scholarly interests include dialectology, especially as it applies to pop culture, and sociolinguistics.
